Throwback Poetry: We

We encounter a mountain of hurdles
And jump like kangaroos
Yet we still jump so low
And trip down all alone

We pick ourselves up
Or if others pick on us
We try to jump together
And together we fall

We try to give up
And sit beside the hurdle
That has turned into a wall
Where nobody passes beneath

While others cheat their way
Walk past either sides
They step into the line
And in the end they’re stuck behind

Lucky are the ones who jump
Higher than the clouds
Yet some who jump much higher
Are swallowed by the sun

And best are the ones
Who strive with will alone
And God who gave them strength
To jump in a constant tone
